Details: Native of the Bahamas averaged 26.2 points, 13 rebounds, 4.1 blocks, 4.1 steals and 2.7 assists while leading her team to a 30-3 record. When her mother died, she was adopted by Texas women’s basketball assistant George Washington and his family.
Favorite musician: I like to listen to Beyonce songs. There are a few others I like.
Biggest disappointment this season: Not winning state. That’s something every high school kid looks forward to. At the same time, you know the experience will only make you better.
Basketball influence: I would say that my mother influenced me a lot. Basically, my family over there (in the Bahamas) and George and Jackie Washington. They’ve influenced me a lot.
Drawing inspiration: Basically, there’s two things. From my family and my mother. Those are the two inspirations that I feed and I carry throughout basketball and life. Because of them, I am able to deal with situations a lot better.
Toughest opponent: The toughest I’ve had to play against is my workout partner, even though I can’t remember his name. He’s like 6-5 and is a wing and is long and athletic.
Hidden talent: I like to draw animated characters and write poetry.
Favorite saying: I’ve gotten into this habit of saying, ‘The thing is” when I am around my friends.
My teammates say: That I’m serious when it’s time to be serious. Basically, they say that I treat everything that there’s a time and a place. I know there’s a time and place for seriousness and a time and place to be goofy.
