De’Aaron Fox, a Kentucky commit, scored 50 points (including 10 three pointers) in an 83-63 Cypress Lakes (Texas) win over Cypress Woods. Fox is averaging 32 points per game this season and has shown so much potential that Washington Wizards All-Star and former Wildcat John Wall came and visited a game on Jan. 29. The guard has scored 40 plus points four times this season.
For his efforts, Fox leads the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Performances of the Week.
The rest of the top performances as high school sports continue around the nation:
Breanna Wright, girl’s basketball, Jarrell (Texas).
Wright, a senior guard, scored 25 points in a win over Lago Vista and played an aggressive brand of basketball as she shot 20 free throws. The senior has 2,500 points and is an Abilene Christian commit.
Noah Franklin, boys wrestling, New Washington (Indiana).
Franklin won the sectional title at 126 pounds last weekend and improved to 39-1.
Mary Dunn, girl’s basketball, Trinity (Pennsylvania).
Dunn, a 6-foot-2 center, had a massive triple double in her final home game—a 61-54 Trinity (Pennsylvania) win over South Park. Dunn had 22 points, 13 rebounds and 11 blocks in the win.
DeWayne Hill, boys wrestling, Belleville East (Missouri).
Hill was the state runner up in the 220 title match last year. He’s doing all he can to get back to the state tournament, as he won the Class 3A regional tournament at Quincy. Hill improved to 43-0 on the season.
Tessa Burke, girl’s basketball, Loyola Sacred Heart (Montana).
Burke was outstanding in two Sacred Heart wins last week, scoring 29 and 28 points respectively.
Shannon Poppen, girl’s basketball, De Smet (South Dakota).
De Smet beat Flandreau last week and it would have been incredibly difficult to do so without the contribution Poppen provided: 27 points and 20 rebounds.
Carsemir Paul, boy’s basketball, Hamilton West (New Jersey).
Paul was the difference maker in a 56-54 win over Pennington. 15 of his 18 points came in the second half.
Hailey Ramey, girl’s basketball, Silver Creek (Indiana).
Ramey scored 21 points and chipped in on the boards, adding 14 rebounds in a win over South Central last week.
