Laura Bagwell-Katalinich, a senior guard for the Holy Angels (Minn.) girl’s basketball team, put up a dominant showing in an 80-74 win over DeLaSalle. The guard accounted for over half of her team’s offensive output, as she scored 43 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.

For her efforts, Bagwell leads the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Performances of the Week.

The rest of the top performances as high school sports continue around the nation:

Monty Johal, boy’s basketball, Glendale (Missouri).

Johal has been remarkably consistent, averaging 25.2 points this season. Johal scored 24 points in a 68-55 loss to Kickapoo on Wednesday. He made sure that wouldn’t happen again two days later, scoring 41 in an 80-39 win over Lebanon.

Mackenzie Thompson, girl’s basketball, East Rankin Academy (Mississippi).

Thompson was impressive in three games last week, averaging 24.3 points and 12 rebounds in a 51-32 win over Oak Forest, a 61-35 win over Pillow Academy, and a 56-54 loss to University Academy.

Tony Miller, boy’s basketball, Woodinville (Washington).

Miller was spectacular in helping his team advance to the KingCo 4A finals. In a quarterfinal win over Mount Si, Miller scored 39 points and had 20 rebounds. He followed that performance up in the semifinal with another 39 point output and 12 rebounds. Miller is averaging 28 points per game this season.

Kaley Barker, girl’s wrestling, Mountain View (Colorado).

In class 4A Region 2 playoff action, Barker went 3-1 with three pins. While not utterly spectacular by itself, Barker became just the third girl in Colorado high school wrestling history to qualify for the state tournament.

Trystan Bradley, boy’s basketball, Lewiston (Idaho).

Lewiston won the Empire League 5A regular season title, and it would have been tough to do so without the contribution Bradley put forth. The forward scored 26 points and had seven rebounds to go along with three blocked shots.

Sydney McLaughlin, girl’s track and field, Union Catholic (New Jersey).

McLaughlin finished her first race of the season in style last Friday. In the 400, McLaughlin posted a time of 53.87.

Derrick Alston, boy’s basketball, Strake Jesuit (Texas).

The senior played a large role in two wins last week, scoring 36 points in a win over Mayde Creek on Tuesday and 37 in a win over Morton Ranch three days later.

“Derrick has elevated his play during our district season,” Strake Jesuit head coach Dominic Amorosa told the Houston Chronicle. “He scored in a variety of ways during the last week, and he creates matchup problems for our opponents because he is 6-7 and can handle the ball.”

Sadie Tackett, girl’s wrestling, Rancho Bueno Vista (California).

The wrestler managed to pin the defending champion, Maria Valencia in the San Diego Section Championships. The come from behind win improved Tackett’s record to 25-0.

Justin Rieschick, boy’s wrestling, Holton (Kansas).

Rieschick has been a fixture in the Big Seven League championships as he claimed his third straight title, all three coming in different weight groups. Rieschick pinned Riverside’s Kinstin Juhl in the title match, upping his career mark to 142-25.
