Alaina Jarnot, a senior, put together a dominant performance in Maranatha Christian Academy’s (Minnesota) 99-76 win over Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity on Saturday. Jarnot dropped 34 points, dished out 15 assists, and grabbed six rebounds.
For her efforts, Jarnot leads the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Performances of the Week.
The rest of the top performances as high school sports continue around the nation:
Brandon Howard, boy’s basketball, Great Falls (Montana).
Howard has been Great Falls top scorer 18 times this season. He’s averaging 25.4 points per game and 10.2 points per game. He showed why he’s been so remarkably consistent all season with two outstanding performances last week. In a win over top-ranked Bozeman on Friday, Howard dropped 30 points. He followed that up with a 28 point outing in a win over Senior on Saturday.
Emily Bauer, girl’s hockey, Wausau East (Wisconsin).
Wasau East has advanced to the WIAA sectional championship game, and it would have been extremely tough to do so without the reliable performances of Bauer. The forward had a goal and three assists in a regional title game last Thursday. Bauer followed that up with two goals and four points in a 6-1 win over Rapids/Point/Marshfield.
Daniel Kuhblank, boy’s lacrosse, Rockledge (Florida).
Kuhblank was the spark Rockledge needed in two wins last week. Kuhblank scored 6 goals and had two assists in a 12-1 win over West Shore, and followed that up two days later with two goals and four assists in a 13-5 win over Edgewood.
Anthony Layne, boy’s basketball, Tekonsha (Michigan).
Layne, a freshman, showed flashes of potential in a 77-67 win over Litchfield, scoring 40 points. He also chipped in on the boards, grabbing 11 rebounds.
Jamie Grob, girl’s basketball, Madeira (Ohio).
Grob, a senior and Wofford commit, scored 15 points, had 14 rebounds and blocked 5 shots in a 49-37 in a Division II Sectional semifinal last Friday.
Royce Hamm, boy’s basketball, Aldine Davis (Texas).
Aldine Davis has won 11 games in a row and that has been due in large part to contributions from players like Hamm. Hamm scored 26 points in a win on Tuesday. The performance helped the Falcons win the District 18-6A Championship.
Sydney Abbott, girl’s basketball, Davenport (Washington).
Abbott scored 18 points and added 6 rebounds in Davenport’s win over Dayton on Saturday. Earlier in the week, Abbott scored 25 points and added six rebounds and four assists in a win over DeSales.
Chris Bailey, boy’s wrestling, Poway (California).
Bailey won the Dvision II sectional championship last week with four pins in four matches and improved his record on the season to 31-1.
Carly Bullock, girl’s hockey, Blake (Minnesota).
Bullock was impressive leading the line for Blake in an 8-0 Class A Championship win over St. Paul United on Saturday. Bullock, a senior forward, scored three goals and added three assists in the title game.
