Bradie Fillmore, a California softball signee, was absolutely spectacular in two games last week. At the plate, she went 9-for-9 with two doubles, three home runs and eight RBI. On the mound, she struck out 12 over five no-hit innings in the first win as Eagle (Ida.) beat Bishop Kelly. Fillmore followed that up with a five-inning one-hitter against Mountain View. In the win against Mountain View, Fillmore struck out 13, and she leads the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Performances of the Week.
The rest of the top performances as the winter seasons begins to wrap up and spring sports begin around the nation:
Sophie Frost, softball, Jackson (Washington)
Throwing a no-hitter is an outstanding individual achievement, and Sophie Frost did just that for Jackson in a win over Woodinville. Frost struck out 15 in the win, and a no-hitter in the opening game should give Jackson plenty of confidence moving forward. Frost did well at the plate last week as well, following up her pitching performance with four hits in four plate appearances in a win over Edmonds-Woodway.
Tayt Smith, baseball, Gilbert Perry (Arizona)
Smith threw a complete game no-hitter in a 9-0 win over Mesa Dobson, striking out 10 batters. The performance was just the second no-hitter in Perry history.
Tyler Smith, boys basketball, Northeastern Wayne (Indiana)
Smith excelled in a regional win over Cloverdale, scoring 41 points.
Jordan Sanders, girls basketball, Kickapoo (Missouri)
In the state championship against Kirkwood on Saturday, Sanders had a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds in the win.
Matt Maynard, baseball, Catlin Gabel School (Oregon)
Maynard, a freshman, could not have found a better way to start his varsity baseball career, as he pitched a complete game no-hitter in a 2-0 win over Colton. Maynard struck out 12 batters and walked just two in the win.
Christian Jones, boys basketball, Federal Way (Washington)
Jones, a leader who plays two sports (he is a University of Washington baseball commit), helped Federal Way win a state title in basketball. The senior scored 18 points and had 12 rebounds as the Eagles defeated Kentwood 66-54. A top-ranked baseball prospect in the state, Jones helped Federal Way to dominant wins against Kent-Meridian 10-0 and Kentlake 13-2.
Michael Porter Jr., boys basketball, Father Tolton Catholic (Missouri)
Father Tolton beat Barstow 62-60 to win the Missouri Class 3 state title, and Porter Jr. led the way. The small forward provided half of Father Tolton’s offensive production, scoring 31 points and pulling down 19 rebounds.
Rachel Rhee, girls swim and dive, La Costa Canyon (California)
Rhee, a freshman swimmer, showed off her potential in the Aqua Sphere Invitational last week. Rhee just missed the state record in the 50 freestyle, winning with a time of 23.98. Rhee followed that up with a 100 freestyle win, posting a time of 52.85. Rhee beat the rest of the field by 1.5 seconds.
Bobby Stewart, baseball, Naples (Florida)
Stewart went on a tear last week, going 12-for-13 with 10 RBI and two home runs in wins over Lehigh, Cascia Hall (Okla.) and Bethany (Okla.). The senior is hitting .553 with 26 hits and 17 RBIs so far this season through 16 games.
