The 2015-16 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Wrestling Teams were selected by USA TODAY High School Sports based on performance and level of competition.
FIRST TEAM: Meet the ALL-USA First Team
SECOND AND THIRD TEAM: Meet the ALL-USA Second and Third Team
WRESTLER OF THE YEAR: Mark Hall, Apple Valley (Minn.)
COACH PROFILE:
Name: Jeff Jordan
School: Graham (St. Paris, Ohio)
Jordan has built a dynasty in Ohio’s Miami Valley. The Falcons won their 16th consecutive Division II team state title this season as well as a fourth consecutive dual state championship since the inaugural event in 2013.
Graham was the only team to defeat Super 25 No. 1 Blair Academy (Blairstown, N.J.) in a dual meet this season, while the Falcons themselves went 14-0 and finished No. 3 in the Super 25. Graham finished third at the prestigious Ironman tournament in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and convincingly defeated the Buckeye State’s Division I champ, St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio), in a dual meet.
The Falcons were led by senior American Family Insurance ALL-USA selection Alex Marinelli, who went undefeated for a second straight season and won a fourth state crown. The Falcons had 13 wrestlers place at the state meet, and Marinelli (170) was one of five state champs, joining sophomores Mitch Moore (126) and Rocky Jordan (138) and seniors Brent Moore (145) and Garrett Jordan (160).
Like his star performer Marinelli, Jordan knows something about winning four state titles. He did the same thing at Graham from 1980-83 while posting a career record of 159-1. He went on to win a Big Ten championship during an All-American college career at Wisconsin. After a coaching stint at Purdue, Graham returned to his old stomping grounds and set off on the state title streak in 2001 that extends to this day.
