2016 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Preseason Girls Soccer Team

The 2016 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Preseason Girls Soccer Team was selected based on past performance, level of competition and strength of schedule. Only players from states that compete in the fall season and play for their high school teams were considered.

New Jersey leads the team with four selections, including 2015-16 ALL-USA Player of the Year Frankie Tagliaferri of Colts Neck. Pennsylvania is next with three picks, while New York and Tennessee both have two members. Connecticut, Idaho, Indiana, Maryland, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah and Washington each claim one selection.

Amirah Ali School: Eastern (Voorhees Township, N.J.) Position: Forward Year: Senior Height: 5-9 College: Rutgers Noteworthy: Ali scored 36 goals and dished out 16 assists in 2015 as Eastern reached the New Jersey Group 4 state championship game. Lauren Bouvia School: Weiser (Idaho) Position: Forward Year: Senior Height: 5-6 College: UC-Davis Noteworthy: What will Bouvia do for an encore after setting the national single-season record with 127 goals in 2015? She’ll likely be even more heavily marked than a year ago, so her junior-year assist total of 23 could skyrocket as she looks to lead Weiser to a second straight Idaho Class 3A state title. Hope Breslin School: Massapequa (N.Y.) Position: Forward Year: Senior Height: 5-6 College: Illinois Noteworthy: Breslin returns on her quest to make it four championships in four years with Massapequa. Gabi Brummett (#20) School: The Derryfield School (Manchester, N.H.) Position: Forward Year: Senior Height: 5-7 College: Duke Noteworthy: A three-time Gatorade State Player of the Year, Brummett and Derryfield will move up from Division IV to Division III this year. Brummett tallied 86 goals and 17 assists in the Cougars’ perfect 20-0 season in 2015 and enters her senior year with a state-record 222 goals. Photo: Annie Branch

Bailey Cartwright (left) School: Greensburg Central Catholic (Greensburg, Pa.) Position: Forward Year: Senior Height: 5-5 College: Notre Dame Noteworthy: Cartwright scored a state-record 79 goals a year ago and also chipped in with 41 assists as Greensburg Central Catholic reached the Pennsylvania Class A state quarterfinals. Arlie Jones School: Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) Position: Forward Year: Senior Height: 5-6 College: Southern Cal Noteworthy: A member of the U.S. Soccer Under-18 Women’s National Team, Jones recorded 17 goals and 11 assists in 2015, leading Bishop Gorman to the Nevada Division I Sunset Region tournament semifinals. Sofia Rossi School: Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) Position: Forward Year: Senior Height: 5-7 College: Wake Forest Noteworthy: Rossi scored 28 goals and passed for 12 assists in 2015, leading Walsh Jesuit to the Ohio Division I state championship. Position: Forward Year: Senior Height: 5-6 College: Penn State Noteworthy: The 2015 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Player of the Year, Tagliaferri scored 28 goals and passed for 18 assists a year ago, including the only goal for Colts Neck in their New Jersey Class 3 state title game victory. Emina Ekic School: DuPont Manual (Louisville, Ky.) Position: Midfielder Year: Senior Height: 5-4 College: Louisville Noteworthy: The returning Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year, Ekic should return in mid-September from a knee injury that has sidelined her since early spring. Alia Martin School: Brebeuf Jesuit (Indianapolis) Position: Midfielder Year: Senior Height: 5-10 College: Michigan Noteworthy: After leading Brebeuf Jesuit to the Indiana Class 2A state title in 2015, Martin returns as the main cog on a loaded team looking to repeat.
