Barbe High coach Glen Cecchini received his American Family Insurance ALL-USA Baseball Coach of the Year trophy Thursday during a presentation at the Lake Charles (La.) school.
Cecchini led Barbe to its ninth state title, including its third consecutive 5A title, last spring. In 30 years as a coach at Barbe, including the last 29 as the head coach, he is 826-186, including 35-6 last season.

Asked his biggest accomplishment, Cecchini says, “Molding teenagers into successful young role models. We have 13 doctors, nine lawyers, successful business owners, successful coaches who have won state championships.”
Earlier this month, he coached the USA Baseball U18 team to a gold medal in the COPABE Pan Am “AAA” Championships in Mexico.
