The Woodlands (Texas) QB Eric Schmid's prolific outing leads the ALL-USA Performances of the Week

The Woodlands (Texas) needed an excellent performance from its standout Sam Houston State-bound quarterback to send the Highlanders to their first regional finals since 2011, and Eric Schmid delivered. The dual-threat quarterback completed 13-of-19 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns. He added 192 yards and three more scores on the ground in Saturday’s 52-31 victory against Austin Bowie.

Schmid’s standout performance leads the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Performances of the Week.

The rest of the performances of the week as fall sports continue around the country:

Zach Davis, football, Sheehan (Conn.)

Another week, another 500 yard rushing performance. The 500 yard rushing mark in a single game has only been broken six time in Connecticut state history and Davis has rushed for 500 yards three times in his career. Davis topped 500 yards (543) in a 58-22 win over Lyman Hall, a mark that broke the state record for rushing yards in a single game. Davis has 3500 rushing yards this season, fourth all-time in Connecticut high school football history.

Brooke Flowers, girls basketball, Metro (St. Louis, Mo.)

The 6-4 forward/center led all players in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots in the Springfield Southeast Tournament. The junior came up huge with clutch performances against Springfield Southeast (23 points, 17 rebounds, 13 blocks), East St. Louis (16 points, 15 rebounds, 10 blocks), Decatur MacArthur (33 points, 23 rebounds, 5 blocks) and Peoria Central (6 points, 15 rebounds).

Cooper Teare, boys cross country, St. Joseph Notre Dame (Calif.)

Teare matched the course record Division V race at the California Interscholastic Federation state championships with a time of time of 14 minutes, 59 seconds. The senior averaged sub-five-minute miles en route to the winning time.

Autumn Giles, girls basketball, Fort Myers (Fla.)

Giles had 43 points and 18 rebounds in two wins last week. The University of Massachusetts commit surpassed 1,000 points for her career when she had a 24-point, 11-rebound game in a win on Thursday.

Rhett Rodriguez, football, Catalina Foothills Hills (Ariz.)

Catalina Hills advanced to their first ever state championship game and Rodriquez provided the spark they needed. scoring seven touchdowns (four passing and three rushing) and throwing for 311 yards. The quarterback rushed for another 69 yards.

Cameron Tabor, girls basketball, New Castle (Ind.)

Tabor was excellent in three New Castle wins last week. The sophomore had 65 points, 21 rebounds, six assists and two blocks.

John Smith, football, Cocoa (Fla.)

Smith was all over the field on defense and special teams, playing a key role in a 24-21 Class 4A semifinal win over Booker T. Washington. He recorded 11 tackles and blocked a punt.

Clara Schulz, girls swim and dive, Harrison (Ind.)

Schulz won the 100-yard butterfly and 50 freestyle in a three-way meet against Benton Central and Central Catholic. The junior won all six events she competed in and helped four relay teams win, as well. Harrison is 4-0 to start the season.

Levi Taylor, football, Silverado (Calif.)

Taylor only completed 14 of his 27 passes, but each completion was effective. The quarterback threw for 468 yards and seven touchdowns in a 52-13 win over Antelope Valley.
