2017 ALL-USA Preseason Girls Lacrosse: Second team

USA TODAY High School Sports is presenting the third annual American Family Insurance Preseason ALL-USA Girls Lacrosse Teams as selected by Casey Vock of 3d Rising.

Players are selected based on on-field accomplishments and strength of opposition during the high school season.

Ali Baiocco School: Oak Knoll School (Summit, N.J.) Class: Senior College: Stanford Sidelined last season with an injury, Baiocco is back and is expected to be one of the top players in the nation again this year. As a sophomore, she put up 101 goals and 28 assists. The athletic righty is primed to get back to that offensive production this season. Photo: Baiocco family

Molly Carter School: Lynbrook Senior (Lynbrook, N.Y.) Year: Senior College: Syracuse Carter was considered an under-the-radar player, but not after posting 86 goals and 40 assists to lead all of Nassau County in points last season. A leader for her team, she helped Lynbrook to a 12-4 record last season and is expected to be a matchup challenge again this season. Photo: Lynbrook High School

Hannah Mardiney School: Notre Dame Prep (Towson, Md.) Class: Junior College: Florida Mardiney is one of the key offensive threats for a surging Notre Dame Prep program. She’s a highly skilled, gutsy attacker who will cut to the center of the defense and can finish in tight space with great hands. She’s got a quick first step, uses fakes and is relentless on the dodge. Photo: Notre Dame Prep

Madison Rielly School: Manhasset, N.Y. Class: Junior College: Maryland Among the very best prospects in the junior class, Rielly returns after a sophomore season that saw her post 34 goals and 19 assists against a tough schedule. She’s got the skill and ability to break out for the Indians this season and she showed that in some key matchups last season.Photo: Manhasset High School

Kyle Sears School: Skaneateles, N.Y. Class: Senior College: Penn State One of the top prospects in the senior class, Sears was kept off the field by a knee injury last season. Coaches say a year on the sideline has her ready for her best year yet. She totaled 105 goals and 40 assists as a sophomore, giving her 318 career points for her career.Photo: Deann Sears

Grace Griffin School: Liberty (Eldersburg, Md.) Class: Senior College: Maryland A fast midfielder with excellent skills to boot, Griffin helped Liberty to a 9-7 record and a playoff appearance in 2016. She notched 41 goals and 22 assists to power the offense, earning All-County honors for the third season. She’s one of the top midfield prospects in Maryland. Photo: Amy Sullivan

Kelsey Huff School: Eastport-South Manor (Manorville, N.Y.) Class: Senior College: USC A midfielder possessing tremendous speed, Huff makes a major impact for her team in the middle of the field. She contributed 32 goals and 6 assists last season while filling a variety of utility roles to help Eastport-South Manor to a 14-6 record and the Suffolk County Class B championship. Allison Mastroianni School: Bridgewater-Raritan (Bridgewater Township, N.J.) Class: Senior College: North Carolina The talented Mastroianni was incredible – again – in 2016 with a third straight point-scoring clinic of a season. She totaled 85 goals and 62 assists, bringing her career numbers to 277 goals and 177 assists. She will look to put Bridgewater-Raritan back in the state title hunt after a trip to the North Jersey Group 4 final in 2016. Photo: Bridgewater-Raritan High School

Quinn Nicolai School: Moorestown, N.J. Class: Senior College: Penn State Nicolai put together a fantastic 2016 season in helping Moorestown to an 18-6 record and its sixth consecutive South Jersey Group 6 title. Samantha Swart School: Archbishop John Carroll (Radnor, Pa.) Class: Senior College: Syracuse Swart has exceptional quickness between the lines and has the ability to push transition. Caroline Blalock School: Marriotts Ridge (Marriottsville, Md.) Class: Senior College: Louisville Blalock, a multi-sport standout, is not only an impact player on defense but also a productive offensive threat as well for Marriotts Ridge. Sarah Cooper School: Notre Dame Prep (Towson, Md.) Year: Junior College: Syracuse A strong, reliable defender, Cooper brings good range and speed to the defensive end of the field. She’s able to be aggressive and press out on the perimeter, and she has the ability to push transition. Haley Dillon School: Mount Sinai, N.Y. Class: Senior College: Stony Brook Dillon is an excellent defender low and near the pipe and is the backer for Mount Sinai’s zone defense. She effectively protects goal-line extended and has been instrumental in the Mustangs’ stingy defense during the back-to-back title runs.Photo: Mount Sinai High School

Hailey Ricciardi School: Ridgewood, N.J. Year: Senior College: Dartmouth Ricciardi is a multi-sport athlete and a strong presence on the back half of the field for the Ridgewood team that made it all the way to the Tournament of Champions finale. Jen Schaaf School: Mount Hebron (Ellicott City, Md.) Class: Senior College: Maryland Schaaf is a skilled and tough shot stopper who has had incredible showings against some of the best shooters in the nation, including her 14-save performance against top-ranked McDonogh last season.
