2017 American Family Insurance ALL-USA High School Softball Teams

The 2016-17 American Family Insurance ALL-USA High School Softball Team was selected based on performance, level of competition and strength of schedule.

The team spans from the East Coast to the West Coast and all points in between. California leads the way with four selections, including ALL-USA High School Softball Player of the Year Taylor Dockins. Arizona, Indiana and Texas each has three picks, while Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Ohio, Virginia and Washington all have two.

Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin also earned representation on the team.

Players from states that play in the fall or the spring were eligible for consideration.

School: Campbell (Ewa Beach, Hawaii) Position: C Year: Senior College: Oklahoma Noteworthy: One of the most feared sluggers in the nation, Alo walked 58 times in 107 plate appearances, including 13 free passes in the Sabers’ four-game postseason run to the Hawaii Division I state title. School: The Colony (Texas) Position: SS Year: Freshman College: Oklahoma Noteworthy: The left-handed shortstop—yes, you read that correctly—showed why she is ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2020 by FloSoftball. Coleman led the Cougars to the Texas Class 5A state title, batting .653 with 12 home runs, 74 runs scored and 53 stolen bases. School: Orange (Hillsborough, N.C.) Position: C Year: Senior College: Mississippi State Noteworthy: Davidson led the Panthers (26-3) to their first North Carolina Class 3A state championship. She mashed her way to a .517 batting average and a .750 on-base percentage courtesy of 43 walks. The No. 4 recruit in the Class of 2017 by FloSoftball also hit 12 home runs—giving her a state-record 53 for her career—knocked in 50 runs and posted a 1.310 slugging percentage. School: Norco (Calif.) Position: RHP Year: Senior College: Cal State-Fullerton Noteworthy: Dockins set the California Southern Section record for career wins (108) and consecutive wins (33) and matched the single-season wins record, leading the Cougars to the Southern Section Division I championship game and earning herself ALL-USA Player of the Year honors.Photo: Gary Evans, Gary’s Norco Pics.com

School: East Carter (Grayson, Ky.) Position: RHP/1B Year: Junior College: Alabama Noteworthy: Fouts had yet another dominant season in Northeast Kentucky. The 6-foot-2 flamethrower finished 29-4 with a 0.43 ERA and 448 strikeouts in 212.2 innings as the Raiders reached the third round of Kentucky’s double-elimination state tournament. School: Oak Park-River Forest (Oak Park, Ill.) Position: LHP Year: Senior College: Auburn Noteworthy: Harris had an extraordinary season, leading the Huskies (37-1) to a second straight Illinois Class 4A state title. Harris was 19-0 in the circle with a 0.29 ERA and 233 strikeouts against just nine walks in 118.2 innings.
