2017-18 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Preseason Girls Hockey Team

The 2017-18 American Family Insurance ALL-USA preseason girls hockey team was selected based on past performance, level of competition and strength of schedule.

There are eight returning ALL-USA selections from the 2016-17 team, including half of the six-player first team: Red Wing (Minn.) forward Taylor Heise, Hotchkiss (Lakeville, Conn.) goalie Lindsay Reed and Blake (St. Paul, Minn.) defenseman Madeline Wethington. Minnesota leads the team with 12 selections, followed by Massachusetts with three. Connecticut and New Hampshire each have two picks, while New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin all have one apiece.

Abby Boreen School: Hill-Murray (St. Paul, Minn.) Year: Senior Height: 5-8 College: Minnesota Noteworthy: Boreen led the Pioneers to a fourth-place finish at the 2017 Minnesota Class AA state tournament. She scored 31 goals and dished out 31 assists to earn Pioneer Press East Metro Player of the Year honors. She also participated in the U.S. National Team training camp in Maine in late June. Kelly Browne School: Tabor (Marion, Mass.) Year: Senior Height: 5-7 College: Boston College Noteworthy: A member of the U.S. Under-18 National Team during their series against Canada in August, Browne was the Tabor team MVP a year ago after tallying 32 goals and 20 assists while leading the Seawolves to the New England Division 1 quarterfinals. Britta Curl School: Bismarck (N.D.) Year: Senior Height: 5-8 College: Wisconsin Noteworthy: A returning ALL-USA Second Team pick, Curl led the Blizzard to the North Dakota state title and was named the state tournament MVP. Taylor Heise School: Red Wing (Minn.) Year: Senior Height: 5-10 College: Minnesota Noteworthy: Heise is a member of the U.S. National Under-18 Team and a returning ALL-USA First Team selection. As a junior, she was second in Minnesota with 54 goals while chipping in with 26 assists. She enters her senior year with 142 goals and 128 assists in her prep hockey career. Savannah Norcross School: New Hampton (N.H.) Year: Senior Height: 5-8 College: Boston College Noteworthy: Norcross was a Second Team All-New England selection a year ago while helping the Huskies to the New England Division 1 championship. Emily Oden School: Edina (Minn.) Year: Senior Height: 5-8 College: Minnesota Noteworthy: A member of the U.S. Under-18 National Team that won a gold medal at the world championships in January, Oden returned to school and helped lead Edina to a 28-1-1 season and its first Minnesota Class AA state title. Georgie Santullo School: Woburn (Mass.) Year: Senior Height: 5-5 College: Uncommitted Noteworthy: A returning ALL-USA Third Team pick, Santullo led the Tanners to the Massachusetts Division 1 state championship as a junior with 38 goals and 27 assists. Year: Junior Height: 5-4 College: Minnesota Noteworthy: A member of the U.S. Under-18 National Team during its series with Canada in August, Shearen was a Minnesota Honorable Mention all-state selection as a sophomore after scoring 25 goals with 21 assists for the Bears.
