2017-18 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Preseason Wrestling Team

The 2017-18 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Preseason Wrestling team was selected by Earl Smith of OpenMat based on past performance, level of competition and strength of schedule.

2016-17 Wrestler of the Year Gable Steveson (Apple Valley, MN) and Patrick Glory (Delbarton School, NJ) are the only returning first-team selections from last spring’s ALL-USA team. In all 15 states are represented by the 33 wrestlers who made the cut, including six each from traditional powers Ohio and Pennsylvania. Minnesota and Indiana are next on the list with three apiece.

Jacob Decatur School: Cuyahoga Valley Christian (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) Year: Junior College: Ohio State Noteworthy: As a sophomore, Jacob Decatur won his first Ohio State championship and finished the season with a 38-2 record. Aizayah Yacapin School: Curtis (University Place, Wash.) Year: Sophomore College: Uncommitted Noteworthy: Yacapin placed in the top four at Cadet Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals this summer. Kurt McHenry School: St. Paul’s School (Brooklandville, Md.) Year: Junior College: Uncommitted Noteworthy: This summer Kurt won his second Cadet World Championship, a feat achieved by only two other American wrestlers previously. Julian Tagg School: Brecksville (Broadview Heights, Ohio) Year: Sophomore College: Uncommitted Noteworthy: An Ohio State Champion as a Freshman, Julian Tagg won a title at the Walsh Ironman and finished his initial high school season with a 43-2 record. Adam Busiello School: Eastport-South Manor (Manorville, N.Y.) Year: Junior College: Penn State Noteworthy: Adam Busiello recently won the nation's toughest preseason tournament, the Super 32, for a third time at the high school level. Patrick McKee (top) School: St. Michael-Albertville (St Michael, Minn.) Year: Senior College: Minnesota Noteworthy: McKee has already racked up two Minnesota State Championship and is Junior National Champion with another year remaining at the high school level. Year: Senior College: Michigan Noteworthy: 2017’s Mr. Wrestling in the state of Florida, Joey Silva won his fourth state title going 56-1 overall.
