Anna Brecht has been outstanding for Lincoln (South Dakota) the past two games. In a win over Eden Prairie (Minn) last Friday, Brecht scored 32 points. She followed that performance up with 33 points, going 10-11 at the free throw line in a win over Yankton.
For her efforts, Brecht leads the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Performances of the Week.
The rest of the top performances as high school sports continue around the nation:
Ty Hoglund, boys basketball, Dell Rapids (South Dakota).
It’s not often that an athlete makes this column twice (Hoglund led the American Family Insurance All-USA Performances of the Week on December 24), but Hoglund was spectacular last week, scoring 32 points in a 46-42 win over Sioux Falls Christian. In another win over Chamberlain last Friday, Hoglund had 30 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
Naomi Hidalgo, girls basketball, Greeley Central (Colorado).
Hidalgo, a forward, led Greeley Central to a 3-0 record as action resumed post-winter break. In a win over Mountain View, Hidalgo had 25 points, seven rebounds and four steals. In the second game, an overtime win over Niwot, Hidalgo had 15 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Finally, Hidalgo had 19 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Greeley West.
Keiran Goodwin, boys basketball, Franklin (Washington).
Franklin beat Bainbridge 59-47, and it would have been tough to do so without Goodwin. Goodwin hit five three pointers and scored 37 points in the win, and then followed that up with 27 points and eight rebounds against Nathan Hale.
Patrick DePasque, boys wrestling, Clifton (New Jersey).
DePasque won his individual performance at the Bloomfield Holiday Wrestling Tournament, and got his 100th career win in the process. By winning his individual matches, DePasque helped Clifton beat Passaic Valley by 17.5 points to win the tournament.
Sylvia Shaw, girls swimming, Carl Albert (Oklahoma).
Shaw, a freshman swimmer, played a huge role in helping two relay events take first in a meet in Shawnee. She also won the 200 meter freestyle and the 100 butterfly by nearly 9 seconds with a time of 1:07.89.
Nate Pryor, boys basketball, West Seattle (Washington).
In a game against O’Dea last week, Pryor had 29 points, seven assists and three steals. The Wildcats won 60-59, and the game came down to a buzzer beating floater from Pryor with 1.5 seconds remaining.
Stephen Ikeler, boys wrestling, Fort Collins (Colorado).
Ikeler won the 120-pound division of the Arnold Torgerson Invitational at Fort Collins High School with a 9-0 decision in the final round.
Kylie Warren, girls basketball, Tigard (Oregon).
Warren scored 22 points in a 50-47 win over Canby. Basketball is a game of runs, and Warren scored 8 of her 22 points in a late 11-0 run to seal the victory.
Mark Carbone, boys basketball, East Catholic (Connecticut)
Carbone, a guard, scored 38 points in a 77-68 win over Hartford Public Monday night.
