One 40 point game is impressive, but three in two weeks is remarkable. Trae Young, a guard for Norman North (Okla.), did just that. Young scored 40 in the McGuiness Classic final on Jan. 10. Young scored 44 in a win against Deer Creek on Tuesday and a personal-best 48 on Friday as Norman North beat Mustang, 83-77. Young led the Timberwolves in the second half of that game, scoring 35 points.
“We haven’t beaten Mustang since I’ve been here,” Norman North head coach Bryan Merritt told NewsOK.com. “We’ve had a lot of stuff happen to us at the beginning of the year — guys hurt, other things. We were down to eight guys practicing there for a while. Trae just stayed with it, and went and made plays. He played a tremendous game.”
