2016 American Family Insurance Preseason ALL-USA Girls Lacrosse Teams

USA TODAY High School Sports is presenting the second annual American Family Insurance Preseason ALL-USA Girls Lacrosse Teams as selected by Casey Vock of 3d Rising.

Players are selected based on on-field accomplishments and strength of opposition during the high school season.

Position: Attack School: Garden City (Garden City, N.Y.) Year: Senior College: Georgetown Bruno returns after a strong junior campaign in which she registered a balanced 36 goals and 30 assists for a talented Garden City program that collected numerous quality wins, went 16-2 and came up just short in the Long Island Class B championship. Bruno, a talented field hockey and basketball player as well, headlines another loaded Trojans squad that should again be one of the top teams on Long Island. Photo: Casey Vock, 3d Rising

Position: Attack School: McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) Year: Senior College: Maryland Griffin returns as one of the star players from McDonogh’s seventh straight IAAM “A” conference championship and unthinkable sixth consecutive undefeated season. A highly skilled, widely regarded attacker, she helped drive an Eagles offense that scored almost 16 goals per game last season and was a member of the U.S. women’s U19 team in the summer. Position: Attack School: Milton (Ga.) Year: Senior College: Notre Dame The leading scorer for the Georgia powerhouse Milton, Masinko is a playmaker who produces lots of scoring chances but also hustles to cause turnovers and wins groundballs. She elevated her play in several big contests last season, including her five-goal, three-assist performance in a 14-12 win over Georgetown Visitation. Photo: Carlos Baez

Position: Attack School: Skaneateles (N.Y.) Year: Junior College: Princeton Sears is an intelligent, talented lacrosse player who’s helped position Skaneateles as the team to beat in Section III Class C for the past two seasons. Her jaw-dropping 105 goals and 40 assists in 2015 gave her 318 points for her career and put the Lakers in the state’s Class C semifinals, where they hope to return in 2016. Photo: Deann Sears

Position: Attack School: Agnes Irwin (Rosemont, Pa.) Year: Senior College: Harvard Keating, blessed with a quick release and the ability to catch and shoot under pressure, led Agnes Irwin with 102 goals and 13 assists last season as the team captured the Inter-Athletic Conference championship. She returns as a key leader for Anges Irwin as the team embarks on a wildly challenging schedule. Photo: Casey Vock, 3d Rising

Position: Midfield School: McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) Year: Senior College: Notre Dame A decorated athlete who shines in soccer and basketball as well, Buchanan will be a valuable two-way midfielder as the Eagles look to keep their unbelievable 133-game winning streak alive in 2016. A hard-working player on both ends of the field, Buchanan will be looked upon as an important leader and playmaker as McDonogh will battle to continue its unparalleled success versus its potent schedule of opponents. Position: Midfield School: Cicero-North Syracuse (Cicero, N.Y.) Year: Senior College: Northwestern A varsity player since the eighth grade, Duffy enters the season with 282 career points after scoring 44 times and assisting on 41 goals last season. Position: Midfield School: Bayport-Blue Point (Bayport, N.Y.) Year: Senior College: Southern California Considered by many to be one of the very best players in the country, Miller managed to put up 47 goals and 26 assists last season with a target on her back as the Phantoms scrapped to the Suffolk County Class C title and fell short in a 7-4 loss to Mt. Position: Midfield School: Marriotts Ridge (Md.) Year: Senior College: John Hopkins After establishing herself as a goal scorer and feeder on offense, Souder switched roles last season to become a two-way midfielder and excelled, helping Marriotts Ridge to a 12-2 record. The dynamic midfielder can play just about any spot on the field and it gives the Mustangs options as they hunt another Maryland 3A-2A championship. Photo: Jae Shim

Position: Midfield School: Century (Sykesville, Md.) Year: Senior College: Maryland A highly regarded midfielder considered among the nation’s very best players, Warther led Century to the Maryland 3A-2A championship and a 17-3 record last season. She scored 58 goals and could reach 200 for her career while looking to capture a second consecutive title this season. Photo: George Taggert

Position: Defense School: Ridgewood (N.J.) Year: Senior College: Dartmouth Bourque, who can dominate on draw controls, was the key cog in a defense that allowed only 5.9 goals per game last season and helped Ridgewood reach the 23-0 mark in 2015. She added 34 goals, 27 assists and 73 groundballs and could help Ridgewood reach similar heights as a senior. Photo: NewJersey.com

Position: Defense School: Manchester Valley (Md.) Year: Senior College: Towson Chenoweth was a key player in the Manchester Valley defensive group that held 14 teams to five or fewer goals and went undefeated last season, and she returns as a key leader for the Mavericks. She has a talent for picking off passes and creates chaos on the defensive end. Photo: Laura Carr

Year: Senior College: Vanderbilt Platt is the anchor of an intelligent, tough defensive unit that helped Agnes Irwin hold a long list of powerful opponents to just over seven goals per game, on average, last season. Position: Defense School: Sachem High School East (Farmingville, N.Y.) Year: Senior College: Florida Trombetta is an aggressive, quick defender who draws the opposition’s top offensive threat game in and game out. She’s developed into a premiere defensive player on Long Island. Photo: Kevin Organ

Position: Goalie School: New Hampton School (N.H.) Year: Senior College: Syracuse Undoubtedly one of the most skilled players at her position, Goldstock held New Hampton’s opponents to less than five goals per game, on average, making the Huskies’ defense the most stingy in the New England prep school circuit.
