NEED TO KNOW
Samuels, the Pan Am Junior long jump champion last summer, had the best high school indoor jump in 35 years, 21-3 1/4, to win the New Balance Nationals. Next target is the outdoor record of 22-5 set last season by Kate Hall (Lake Region; Naples, Maine), which took down a 39-year old mark. Hall, the top new collegiate field recruit, is now at Iowa State. Corrin and World Youth long jump champion Davis complete a trio who rank high among the all-time top high school jumpers.
