The soccer program at St. Ignatius (Cleveland) is attempting to win its third consecutive state Division 1 state championship and also repeat as USA TODAY Sports/National Soccer Coaches Association of America Super 25 national champions.

Stephen Milhoan is a big reason why.

Milhoan, named to the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Preseason Boys Soccer Team in August, has 19 goals and three assists on the season. He missed four games because of a shoulder injury but is healthy and back on the field for a postseason run.

St. Ignatius enters the postseason ranked No. 1 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/NSCAA Super 25.

“Stephen was the best player in Ohio last season, and has been the best player in Ohio this season,” coach Mike McLaughlin said. “We have played many of the top teams in Ohio and from around the country, and Stephen has been the most dominant player on the field in every game.”

Milhoan showed his dominance during St. Igantius’ run to the state title last season. He tallied nine goals and six assists in seven postseason games, including a goal in a 4-0 win against Hilliard Davidson in the state final.

For his career, the Xavier-bound forward has 68 goals and 33 assists, including 29 goals and 19 as a junior to be named the Ohio State Soccer Coaches Association’s Division I Player of the Year and was selected for the inaugural ALL-USA Boys Soccer Team.
