VIDEO: Teen Olympic hurdler Sydney McLaughlin honored by her hometown

More than 500 came to Columbia Park in Dunellen to welcome 17-year-old Olympian Sydney McLaughlin home Saturday. The youngest track and field member of Team USA was honored with the "keys to the city," a state proclamation and the unveiling of two "Home of Olympian Sydney McLaughlin" signs.

Sydney McLaughlin is back home in New Jersey and trying to be a regular high school student.

McLaughlin, a 17-year-old hurdler from Union Catholic in New Jersey, was is the youngest athlete on the USA’s track and field team for the Rio Olympics and the youngest track athlete to represent the country since 1980.

The American Family Insurance ALL-USA Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year last spring, McLaughlin reached the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles in Rio.

She was honored this week by her hometown, received a proclamation and the keys to the city.
